Paul McCobb: Planner Group: Design for All.
Opening Sunday 4th October, 2026
Opening to the public on the occasion of LA Design Week 2026, the Paul McCobb Museum presents Planner Group: Design for All.
In 1949, a young Paul McCobb introduced his first collection of furniture to the American public. It would prove to be a contribution to American design like no other.
Planner Group: Design For All tells the story of how McCobb’s uniquely democratizing approach to design was specifically articulated through his Planner Group furniture line—resonating with the mid-century moment to become the biggest selling line of furniture in America, and in-turn, revealing the unknown story of how McCobb himself became known as “America’s Designer.”

Paul McCobb: Planner Group et al.
Spring 2022 ~ ongoing.
Paul McCobb: Planner Group et al, is the central and ongoing exhibition built around the Planner Group and its accompanying accessory lines.
Embracing the coordinated, modular, and accessorizable design structure of the Planner Group line, this exhibition is itself continually open to re-arrangement and re-curation at the whims of our home life. Small aesthetic and compositional changes happen on a daily basis, while larger re-installations happen on a loosely seasonal schedule.
